Barratts shoe chain has recently gone into administration, and staff at their store in Crawley County Mall are worried for their jobs. This isn’t the first time the company has been in administration and employees continue to fear the worst.

If the shoe giant closes, potentially an estimated 1000 jobs will be affected across the UK. The administrators are currently seeking a buyer for the business, however it is some what inevitable that job losses ill occur whatever the outcome for the whole company.

It has been tough for the company over the past few years since the recession hit. They have faced administration three times in total, the first being back in 2009. Although rumours of a potential investor were heard, there is yet to be anything put forward to save the company.

If Barratts closes, over 1000 employees will lose their jobs and over 75 stores will close, not to mention it will be the end of an era for one of Britain’s well-known shoe stores. Let’s hope a buyer comes forward for the business soon, or or the future does not look bright for Barratts staff.
