Chapman Freeborn Airchartering accounts team in the UK are looking to recruit a full time Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant and a full time Purchase Ledger Accounts Assistant.

The purpose of these roles is to provide support to the accounts manager and management accountant in keeping the accounts, recording financial transactions, and preparing regular statements to ensure the company's financial targets are met.

The positions requires hard working, enthusiastic team players with good communication skills. Experience in finance would be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accounts payable

- Register all purchase invoices onto sage and give out for authorisation
- Post all authorised purchase invoices, check for correct addition, extension and applicable VAT.
- Post all authorised expenses and ensure they are compliant with the expense policy
- Prepare weekly payment run and ensure invoices are paid when due
- Compare supplier statements to sage records and investigate any discrepancies
- Produce Weekly Creditors report
- Review creditors report and highlight and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure unauthorised invoices are investigated and cleared

2. Filing
- Ensure all records are accurately filed both manually and electronically

3. Other
- Other ad-hoc reports as required
- Provide cover within the accounts department during holidays, sickness or busy periods, e.g. raising sales invoices, processing purchase invoices
- Undertake other duties as appropriate to the role and within the competence of the role holder to include overtime duties when required
- Be aware of and comply with the policies of the company

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education
- GCSE including English and Maths at grade C or above
- A levels or Degree would be an advantage
- Currently studying AAT or other recognised finance qualification would be an advantage

Finance
- Analytical skills – the ability to analyse financial data accurately

IT
- Good computer literacy and particularly a good working knowledge of word processing and Excel spreadsheets
- GCSE in I.T or equivalent would be an advantage
- Experience with Sage would be an advantage

Communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the organisation and clients.
- Ability to convey financial information to non-finance professionals both internally and externally.

Planning and organisation
- Good time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles.
- Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
- High level of administrative skills to aid personal organisation

- Self- motivated and able to work with a degree of autonomy
- Flexibility to cover other roles within the department
- Flexibility to adapt work plans and schedules as necessary.
- Commitment to the aims and objectives of Chapman Freeborn
- A full appreciation of the value of co-operation within a team environment.
- Ability to work as an individual and as part of a small team.
