Finance Manager

Salary £30,000-35,000pa + benefits

A leading specialist business based in Burgess Hill requires a highly motivated and diligent finance professional to support the Head of Finance & Operations as a Finance Manager. This individual will manage a team of 2 reports and liaise directly with the senior leadership team.

You will be joining an organisation that has an impressive and consistent history of growth, during which time they have become an industry leader in their field and won several awards. They're looking for someone who will help contribute towards their continued success and play a pivotal role in their further expansion plans.

Overview of duties:

  • Overseeing all aspects of sales and purchase ledger.
  • Payments – ensuring suppliers are paid on-time, ensuring appropriate controls and preparing weekly and other payment runs for approval by the Director.
  • Cash management including reconciling daily bank statements and updating weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Producing and submitting quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Submitting monthly EC sales list to HMRC.
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset Register.
  • Managing staff payroll.
  • Management of 2 direct reports including coaching and development, appraisals etc.
  • Producing weekly and monthly sales reports.
  • Performing month-end procedures – including reviewing accuracy of postings, reconciling control accounts, calculating prepayments/accruals and other adjustments.
  • Production of Trial Balance and full month-end management accounts.
  • Variance analysis of performance to budget.
  • Assisting with annual audit requirements.
  • Assisting budget preparation.
  • Recruitment and induction of new team members if required.

Candidate requirements:

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and energetic with a positive outlook. You will be highly organised and efficient, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will be able to effectively manage your own time and prioritise tasks, be able to self-motivate and inspire enthusiasm within your team, whilst holding team members accountable for their performance. You will have excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables), and be able to produce high-quality financial information efficiently and accurately.
