About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a The Carers Breaks and Engagement Team for a fixed term in a part time capacity to support you to develop the knowledge skills and confidence to support vulnerable adults as an independent Personal Assistant whilst achieving the accreditation of the ESCC Support with Confidence Scheme.

The object of the Carers Breaks service is to engage People who are hard to reach, have complex needs who require support and encouragement to accept services. You will provide information support and guidance about local and national services to enable people living with Dementia/long term conditions to have increased control to make informed choices around their future Care and support needs.

You will work with the individual to explore local services, take them to visit services and possibly introduce services of their choice into the home.

Working as part of a team you will be asked to visit People in their own home. Working in Partnership with Voluntary sector services, social work and Health teams, promoting the independence, health wellbeing and safety of people living with Dementia and their Carers is a key element of the work. You will be required to report and record events using the organisations systems and process’. You will be responsible for your own time management using an electronic calendar.

We are looking for someone who is able to use their own initiative to loan work and also be an active, supportive team member. Experience of working with Older People with long term conditions , experience of working with People living with Dementia and community work experience is required. You will need full driving licence, or be able to demonstrate how you will meet the travel requirements of this post with use of your own vehicle.

A full induction programme and agile equipment will be provided, regular supervision, on-going training and development opportunities and team meetings will support your personal development programme.

These posts are 18.5 hours per week working Monday - Friday. No weekend work required.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
