The registration service is split into two teams, the ceremonies team & the births and deaths team.

The attached job profile is generic for both teams; these vacancies are in the Ceremonies team. Some registration experience is desirable however full training is available for the right candidates.

We have a new opportunity within the busy Ceremonies team for 2 Part time Registration Assistants to work with the team and provide crucial cover on Saturdays as part of their normal working hours, i.e. normal days of work will be Thursday or Wednesday – Saturday. An additional enhancement is payable for the Saturday work.

The Roles involves( remove s) all aspects of booking, advising upon and registering both statutory (Marriage/Civil Partnership/Same Sex Marriage) and non- statutory (renewal of vows & baby naming)Ceremonies. This would be from interpreting complex legislation whilst talking to customers, explaining the legal requirements of statutory ceremonies, taking bookings, taking notices of Marriage/Civil Partnership, Citizenship ceremonies, as well as registering & performing ceremonies.

You will have a proven track record of achievement in a customer focussed role, you will need a good understanding of IT systems and databases to be able to quickly understand and operate our bookings, and registration on line system in order to be able to deal with all types of enquiries.

You will have excellent customer service skills & the ability to remain accurate under pressure. You will need strong communication skills as well as excellent numerical & literacy skills and IT skills, in order to operate our bookings and registration on line system. You will need the ability to work unsupervised to a high and consistent level.

As it is necessary to be able to think quickly and make decisions based on legislative requirements, a proven ability to read and interpret legislation / best practice/ processes is essential.

You will need to be strongly motivated and able to work on your own initiative.

These posts are based in Crawley, although you will need the ability to travel independently throughout the County as required, including places which are not on public transport routes. You will work at different locations as and when necessary sometimes at short notice.
