Motiv8 is a charity that works with 8-25 year olds, with a primary focus on 13-19 year olds. Delivery is aligned around community-based teams backed up by colleagues providing support with Participation, Junior Leaders, Volunteering and Motiv8 Outdoors. Working in partnership with other agencies Motiv8 offers a varied menu of options within the context of a service delivery model.

Vacancy background:

Motiv8 currently delivers three core products, those being:
• Youth Inclusion Programmes (YIP) –After School Community initiative, delivered within defined geographical boundaries, supporting young people at risk of offending, anti-social behaviour and disengagement from learning
• Step Up Programmes - Personal and Social Development Programmes delivered in school, which have an Outdoor and Accreditation focus
• Challenge and Adventure – After school accredited programme which aims to develop young people’s skills through experiential learning.

The job role will include involvement in all three areas, providing in school group provision which will predominantly have an Outdoor and Accreditation focus, alongside targeted after school provision which will include 1:1 support, targeted groupwork, and the delivery of positive activities.

Additional tasks

1. To deputise for the Coordinator, ensuring that services benefit young people, contractual requirements are met, and staff are fully supervised.
2. To lead the planning, delivery and development of Personal and Social Development programmes which will have an Accreditation and Outdoor Education focus
3. To plan and deliver Outdoor Education activities during school holidays and during term time when necessary
4. To utilise relevant Outdoor Education qualifications and demonstrate a commitment to acquiring further qualifications that will support the progression and development of Motiv8’s Outdoor Education Programmes.
5. To carry out action planning and reviews for Outdoor Education as appropriate
6. To motivate young people involved in the Outdoor activities to progress and develop in order that they can meet their full potential.
7. To comply with the standards and requirements set by relevant National Governing Bodies for the planning and delivery of Outdoor Initiatives.
8. To participate in rota cover for Motiv8 services, as appropriate.
9. To collate and support young people in producing evidence to obtain accredited outcomes.
10. Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed to the required standards.
Specific qualifications, skills or experience (additional to Senior Worker person specification)

Essential

• Full UK Driving Licence with 2 years driving experience
• To have 3-4 relevant qualifications of which 2 are National Governing Body qualifications. Examples may include qualifications (CWA or SPA), UKCC Level 2 coach certificate or equivalent and Walking Group Leader or equivalent. Other qualifications may include site specific qualifications such as High Ropes, Low Ropes and Problem Solving and experience of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
• Knowledge of Outdoor Education
• Interest in training and obtaining further qualifications in the field of Outdoor Education
• Ability to lead large and small groups of young people.
• Ability to motivate people
• Able to work as part of a team
• Relevant experience of participating in Outdoor Education activities
• Experience in planning and delivering structured programmes

Desirable
• Minibus Driver (PCV or D1)
• Able to fulfil the transport requirements of the role, namely a driver able to travel throughout Gosport and surrounding areas.
