Interview Date: TBC Adult Care Point 2 (ACP2) provides a first point of contact for customers requiring a needs assessment under the Care Act 2014. ACP2 also provides an access and triage point for adult safeguarding referrals.

Team members will begin, and in some circumstances complete, a statutory needs assessment with adult customers who are approaching WSCC for social care support. In most cases we will provide advice, information and signposting or prescribe equipment to support people to remain independent. Where appropriate, those people requiring on-going face to face assessment will be passed to locality teams.

The service is responsible for receiving and prioritising adult safeguarding referrals and ensuring actions are taken to address immediate risks where necessary and making decisions on which cases need to be passed to locality teams for further enquiry.

Senior Social Work Practitioners in the team are responsible for managing the triage of safeguarding and assessment referrals, allocating work to team members, providing support and supervision to Social Workers and Assessment Officers and supporting the Team Manager. They are also responsible for scrutiny and sign off of work and making decisions about whether safeguarding concerns meet the triggers for a Section 42 Enquiry. Given the focus on staff supervision, support and development, this role is an excellent stepping stone for those considering a pathway to management.
